Local Earth Day Celebrations on April 22
If you’ve never celebrated Earth Day before, make 2017 the year that you start. There are a number of celebrations right here in your own community.
Historic Downtown Manassas is hosting the 11th annual Live Well Festival, where there will be health screenings and other health-related activities.
There are exhibitions of all kinds that promote different environmentally-friendly programs and practices. For the kids, there will be an opportunity to make environmentally friendly arts and crafts. Check it out!
Tankless Water Heaters Help the Earth
Heating your water can be costly and wasteful, harming the environment. Consider trading your hot water tank in for a more environmentally friendly tankless option.

The supply is reliably hot and uses a fraction of the energy that traditional storage tank heaters do.
Eco-Friendly Plumbing Fixtures
Your toilets account for nearly a third of your water use in your home. Installing dual-flush toilets will greatly reduce that. It modifies the water usage based on if you are flushing solid or liquid waste.
Low-flow showerheads are also very helpful. A traditional showerhead uses about 5 to 8 gallons of water a minute, but a low-flow version reduces that to 2.5 gallons but still keeps steady with water pressure.

There is no denying the health benefits of drinking purified water, but how you get that water matters a great deal to the environment.
Bottled water is tasty but expensive and harmful to the earth. Many water bottles end up in landfills.
One option is to install a water filtration system at home. It removes many contaminants (like lead) while leaving helpful minerals behind (like calcium).
